A New Look

The first change you’ll notice when you launch an application within Microsoft Office 2013 is the new landing page.  In the first picture, is a list of your most recent documents as well as the option to open previously viewed documents. If you select the NEW command, the window in the second picture will appear. You can pick from various templates, such as blank, invoice, blog post, and so on. You can also perform a search through Microsoft’s library of templates.

Edit a PDF

1. Click the FILE tab.

2. Select Open command.

3. Find the PDF and click the Open button.

4. The converted document might not look exactly the same as the original PDF file.

Live Layout

Get a live preview as you resize and move photos and shapes in your document. The new alignment guides make it easy to line up charts, photos, and diagrams with your text.

Microsoft Excel 2013

Flash Fill – Flash Fill will automatically fill in values in a selected range. Enter a couple of examples you want as output and keep the active cell in the column you want filled in.

1. Select one or more cells that have the data you want to prefill as output.

2. Select the range to copy data to.

3. Click on DATA tab.

4. Go to the Data Group, Select Flash Fill.

Microsoft Outlook 2013

Create an Appointment

1. Go to the bottom of the navigation pane and click the Calendar link in lower left.

2. Click the New Appointment button on the Ribbon.

3. Type in your Subject & Location.

4. Select Start date and time.

5. Click Save & Close.

Customizing the Quick Access Toolbar

1. Click on the Customize Quick Access Toolbar dropdown arrow.

2. From the drop down menu, click on the command you want to display (a checkmark next to a command indicates it has already been selected and is displayed in the Quick Access Toolbar).

3. To remove a command from the Quick Access Toolbar, right click on the icon and select Remove from Quick Access Toolbar from the shortcut menu.
